Green Goddess

Bambusa multiplex var. Golden goddess

  • Popular for smaller gardens, decks, tight spaces, pots, and planters.
  • Doubles the height of a normal fence, growing up to 4 mete
  • Upright, bushy growth habit; easy to clip into a hedge.
  • Best suited for containers, but a bottomless planter is recommended for better access to water and nutrients.
  • Photos show hedge growth can reach an additional 2 meters within 18 months.

Blue Fairy

Drepanostachyum falcatum

  • Compact bamboo variety, reaching 3-4 meters, ideal for smaller gardens and patios.
  • Thrives in sun and shade; cold-hardy to -6°C.
  • Creates natural privacy screens with its upright, bushy growth.
  • A bottomless planter is recommended for long-term health, ensuring access to water and nutrients.
  • Forms a neat, manageable clump when left to grow naturally.

Slender Weavers

Bambusa textilis var. Slender weavers

  • Dubbed as the Instagram Bamboo
  • Known for its upright growth and lush, dark green leaves.
  • Ideal for pleaching: removing bottom leaves and hedging top growth to control height.
  • Bottomless planters are best to control width; not suitable for closed planters.
  • If left to grow naturally, can reach a footprint of 1-1.5 meters and a height of 6-7 meters.

Doli

Bambusa Dolichomerithalla

  • Majestic bamboo variety, grows up to 9 meters tall.
  • Ideal for tall screens or natural barriers in large gardens.
  • Thrives in sun or shade and is cold-hardy down to -4°C.
  • Effective for pleaching; a bottomless planter controls its spread while giving access to nutrients.
  • Naturally forms a clump with a footprint of 1-1.5 meters.

General Plant Size at Purchase

Sizes are approximate and depend on the season. PB is an industry size unit and stands for ‘Planter Bag’. The graphic gives the dimensions of the bag sizes. PB8 plants are generally approx 1 -1.5m and PB28 plants are approx 2 -2.5m.

 

Generally, they are bigger at the end of summer as they’ve had a full growing season.

 

The bigger the pot then generally the more or bigger shoots and the bushier the plant. The small plants may have 1 or 2 shoots whilst the largest grades generally have more depending on the variety.
